  • STEVE & ka yu CUCHRA

    PILSEN campus PASTOR

Steve was born in Chicago and grew up in Niles, IL. He is a graduate of Adult & Teen Challenge of the Hawaiian Islands and prepared for the ministry through Global University and Hawaii Christian College. In 2015, Steve married his wife Ka Yu and felt the call of God to leave Hawaii and begin their ministry together in Chicago. He served on staff at a local church and then joined the staff at Adult and Teen Challenge Chicago where he served as the Director of Kitchen Operations, and also the Director of Academics and Student Services. In 2017, he was credentialed as a licensed minister with the Illinois District of the Assemblies of God. He has both Illinois and Chicago credentials. He is also the lead Dinner Church pastor of the Hope Community Dinner at Pilsen, and holds a ServSafe Kitchen Manager license. Steve loves to cook and has over 15 years of culinary experience.

Ka Yu has served in both children and youth ministries. She loves serving as a worship vocalist and on mission trips. She has a passion to see people of all ages and ethnic groups come to know Christ.

Together, they enjoy spending time with their 2 dogs, cooking, baking and crafting. Steve and Ka Yu love the city of Chicago with all of its diversity. They look forward to what God is doing and going to do in the artistically and culturally rich Pilsen neighborhood!

  • christina dewar

    pilsen campus worship pastor

My name is Christina Dewar and I have the privilege to be the Worship Pastor at Hope Church Pilsen. I grew up in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago and graduated from Oral Roberts University. I then obtained my Masters in Social Work at Aurora University.

A few months after graduating with my masters, God led me to Hope Church Pilsen. In this season, God grew me in ways I didn't know were possible in my life. He then led me to move to the city, become the Worship Pastor, and go on the ride of my life. When we put our hope in Jesus and trust Him with our future, He never disappoints. His ways are always better than ours.

I believe there is power in our Worship. I believe worship gives room for the Holy Spirit to move as only He can and touch the lives of those who need Him. My passion and desire is for every person in the Pilsen neighborhood and city of Chicago to accept Jesus Christ in their life, have a personal relationship with Him, and know the truth of who He is.
